Revolut combines a debit card and account with currency exchange, cash withdrawals and optional travel benefits. The right plan depends on how often you travel, how much cash you need and which extras you will actually use.
Which plan fits?
Standard is a sensible starting point for occasional trips. It has no monthly plan fee, but limits on fee-free exchange and withdrawals apply. Plus raises the exchange allowance. Premium removes Revolut’s additional fair-use and weekend exchange charges and adds benefits. Metal increases the cash allowance and adds travel insurance and discounted lounge passes. Ultra adds lounge access and more extensive benefits at a much higher monthly price. See Revolut’s current plan prices and included benefits before choosing.
Paid plans may also include partner subscriptions and RevPoints. Count a subscription as a benefit only if you would otherwise pay for it and can actually use it. RevPoints are rewards for eligible spending, not cash with a fixed value.
What matters abroad?
Standard has a monthly exchange allowance and a weekend markup; Plus has a higher allowance and a lower markup. Premium, Metal and Ultra avoid those additional Revolut exchange charges. The rate shown before you confirm a transaction still matters. Check the exchange rules for your plan.
All plans have a monthly cash withdrawal allowance. Beyond it Revolut charges a fee, and an ATM owner can charge separately. Choose the local currency at the ATM instead of accepting its conversion. Revolut explains the withdrawal rules. Take a backup card: a hotel or car rental company may require a credit card for its deposit and may decline a debit card.
Travel insurance and other paid benefits have eligibility rules and exclusions. Monthly billing does not necessarily mean a plan can be cancelled after one month without charge. Check those conditions before upgrading.
Our advice
Start with Standard if you travel a few times a year. Upgrade only when the exchange and withdrawal allowances plus benefits you will use justify the plan fee. We show the official sign-up route; personal referral links are excluded. Information checked on 28 September 2026.
