Flying Blue American Express cards earn Miles on spending and award XP each year. Miles can be redeemed; XP count towards Flying Blue status. Gold awards 30 XP annually and Platinum 60 XP. The extra XP in the current direct offer are a one-time addition to those card benefits.
Which application route is better? The invitation currently offers more Miles. Applying directly adds bonus XP instead. These bonus XP are a one-time award, separate from the annual card XP. The direct promotion ends on 30 September 2026. The offers below show the amounts and total XP for each card.

Which card works after the welcome offer?
Gold costs €198 a year and is the cheaper choice for earning Miles and receiving 30 annual XP. Platinum costs €660 a year and offers 60 XP, a higher Miles earning rate and additional card benefits. Choose Platinum when those extra XP and benefits suit your travel habits; the welcome bonus alone is no reason to keep the card for years.
