IHG has announced several hotel developments over the past week. InterContinental Taipei has opened, Vignette Collection is growing in mainland China and Hong Kong, and projects have been signed in Luang Prabang, Debrecen and New Cairo. Their opening timelines differ substantially.

InterContinental Taipei is open

The new InterContinental Taipei sits within the Taipei Dome complex in Xinyi District. It has 347 rooms, seven dining concepts, an indoor pool, a fitness centre and Club InterContinental.

Classic Rooms start at approximately 38 square metres, with selected rooms overlooking Taipei 101. Larger residential-style suites include kitchens and laundry facilities. IHG announced the opening on 12 October.

Vignette Collection grows in China and Hong Kong

IHG’s 15 October portfolio update names additions this year in Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai, Beidaihe, Qiandao Lake and Sanya, alongside The Hari Hong Kong.

The collection brings together hotels that retain their individual character. Examples include TFT Chongqing and THE ONE Shanghai Downtown. The update also features Shanghai Snow World Hotel, at an indoor ski resort, and the coastal Resea Hotel Beidaihe.

Luang Prabang resort planned for 2027

In Laos, IHG has signed Holiday Inn Resort Luang Prabang Naluang Hill. Scheduled to open in 2027, it will be the group’s first property in Luang Prabang.

Plans include 101 rooms, suites and villas on Naluang Hill, four food and beverage venues, a pool and a spa. This is a development announcement rather than an opening.

Debrecen and New Cairo come later

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Debrecen in Hungary is scheduled for 2029. The property will have 120 rooms, including 20 suites, approximately one kilometre from the city centre.

Crowne Plaza New Cairo in Egypt is planned for the first quarter of 2031. The signed project includes 250 rooms and suites in Sixth Settlement, with facilities including a pool, fitness centre and spa.

The announcements therefore range from an operating city hotel to developments still several years away. The future opening dates reflect IHG’s current plans.
