KLM has chosen Starlink for free Wi-Fi on intercontinental flights. Announced on 8 October, the phased rollout will begin in mid-2027 and cover all cabin classes.
Starlink on long-haul flights
Satellites in low Earth orbit will provide high-speed internet with low latency. KLM lists email, music, gaming and streaming films or series among the intended uses.
Aircraft will be equipped in stages. The mid-2027 start therefore does not mean every intercontinental aircraft will have the service immediately. The announcement is not a guarantee that your booked flight will already offer Starlink.
A Flying Blue account is required
Free access will be available to Flying Blue members who sign in with their account. Passengers can join before departure or through the onboard portal. Access will be offered on equipped aircraft.
For your trip, keep your account details handy and download important travel documents beforehand. With the phased introduction, it is sensible to remain prepared to travel without internet access.
KLM has already offered free Wi-Fi on most of its European fleet since early 2026. This Starlink announcement concerns the next step: intercontinental flights.
